Series Five - Spoilers/Rumours/Information

Series: 5
Air Date: Spring 2010
Doctor: 11th - Matt Smith
Companion(s): Amy Pond (Karen Gillan)
Show-runner: Steven Moffat

Whoop! Its a new era for Doctor Who come 2010, after 5 years since its return in 2005 Steven Moffat takes over from Russell T Davies as show-runner for the series. RTD leaves after this years specials.
And with a new show runner comes a new Doctor! The Eleventh to be exact, to be played by 'unknown' actor Matt Smith. Matt was named to be the Eleventh incarnation of the TV legend on a special episode of Doctor Who Confidential in January 2009.

And joining the Doctor is his new companion who has been confirmed to be Karen Gillan. Who can currently be seen in The Kevin Bishop Show, playing many great character's for the 'sketch' programme. Karen's character in series Five is called Amy Pond.

Steven Moffat said, 'We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. Funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too.'

On Monday, July 20 filming for the fifth series began. With filming on Southerndown beach in Cardiff. Matt and Karen could be seen in costume for the first time as well as (maybe) a returning character. And thankfully there are some great snaps!
